As a publicity tool, we proposed three-dimensional billboard objects designed to function both as information displays and as street furniture. These objects took the form of 19 weather- and vandalism-proof steel staircases, which could serve as highly visible, easily accessible meeting points for walking tours, as well as seating for audiences and stages for speakers.
In the bottom of each staircase, an exhibition space provides orientation and an overview of local projects. Images, maps, texts and custom-made stereograms – backlit views that create an illusion of three-dimensionality by combining two-dimensional images – provide the essential facts on the planning challenges facing each city and their possible solutions. And anyone who climbs the stairs gains (at the very least) a brand-new outlook on the city.
