The Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden (DHMD) sees itself not only as a museum, but rather as an open forum for debate for anyone interested in the cultural, social and scientific upheavals of our present day. In keeping with this, the museum, together with the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, has dedicated a four-year research project to the question of whether museums are places of democracy.

  • At the end of the joint project, the DHMD organized the conference “Museums as active places of democracy” to discuss the results with the professional audience and to play the topic further into the museums. We designed the key visual, the media and the website.

  • The key visual picks up on the theme of polyphony and pluralism. Society and its opinions clash and enter into discourse with one another.

  • The website serves three functions: Announcement of the conference, conference website with the possibility of live digital participation in formats and, in a third function, the presentation of the joint project with a presentation of all ongoing projects.
