The logo shows pieces of paper floating in the wind of change. The modular design can be used to promote exhibitions both inside and outside the building itself. The diverse color palette lends itself to a variety of themes, from historical memories to anniversaries. Lineto’s Circular font offers a wide range of weights, styles and variables for the many different applications the museum needs to be prepared for.
Thanks to the “Hannover Kiosk”, the museum will remain a fixed point of contact for the urban community even during the closure period. The location in the immediate vicinity of the old site will be a nucleus for participative formats, small exhibitions and a place of exchange about the history and identity of the city. The corporate design of Geschichte unterwegs makes the place shine from afar.
The showcases have a modular design and are more like a pop-up store than a classic museum. The modules can be pushed aside for events to make room for the public. History is not taught frontally here, but can be enjoyed in small bites like in a kiosk as a goodie bag.
The design principle is overlays: Original pictures on photos, texts over pictures. As in real life, something is always added. This is also the case here. The public is invited to work with the team on the museum of the future and say which objects and themes they would like to see in the museum in the near future. There are empty spaces and places where the public can continue to write their story.
To announce upcoming events, we have created a visual system of shapes that resemble colorful flags and tickets. The HMH is now loudly on the move in the city.
The HMH has been completely closed since November 2023. As many museums in Germany are affected by this phenomenon, the HMH began this major step with a conference on “Working without a museum building and without a collection”. We were invited to share our experiences and how we are dealing with this in two workshops.
In the fall of 2021, the HMH took part in the city of Hanover’s so called City Center Dialogue. For this, we developed a modular exhibition module that invites the city’s citizens to express their opinions on changes in the city center and at the same time bring the corporate design of Geschichte unterwegs to the public.
