The roots of Berlin’s oldest university, today’s Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, date back to the mid-1700s. Combining functionality with aspirations to prestige, Berlin’s architectures of learning tell tales of self-confidence and power, of hubris, destruction and new beginnings, demonstrating how institutions can preserve rich traditions while also pursuing new ideas.
Together with the Humboldt-Universität, our team created a website that marks architectural milestones in the history of Berlin’s universities. We invite you to check out the result here.
